[Johannesburg, 01 November 2018] Warmbaths Forever Resort has entrusted thermoplastic piping specialist, Plasti-Tech, to supply a big order of HDPE pipes and fittings in a short space of time.
Plasti-Tech has won a large order to supply various sizes of high density polyethylene pipes (HDPE) and fittings for the upgrade of Warmbaths Forever Resort’s pump stations. Within easy reach from Johannesburg on the N1, Warmbaths is located in an African bushveld atmosphere. The popular family resort sits between some of the most stunning game reserves in the Limpopo Province.
To keep the standards high at this fantastic family resort, management at Warmbaths recently went into the market for HDPE pipes to replace the ageing steel pipes, and engaged the services of Plasti-Tech. “The client made contact with us in March for the supply of HDPE pipes and fittings. The order was a bit urgent but we managed to meet the client’s deadline accordingly,” explains Plasti-Tech managing member Brad Chamont.
Plasti-Tech has since supplied product worth in excess of R300 000 to date, and Chamont estimates that the total project supply value will reach over R1-million. The project, which is still ongoing, will soon move onto Phase 2, which will include some large bore HDPE piping.
Warmbaths is replacing aged steel pipes at its pump stations. The existing pipes have since corroded over the years and needed to be replaced with a long-lasting alternative. Chamont notes that HDPE pipes and fittings are quickly becoming the material of choice for a wide variety of industry applications for the several benefits they offer.
HDPE is proven to be strong, durable, flexible and lightweight than competitive solutions. When fused together, HDPE offers a zero leak rate due to the seamless nature of the pipe system. It also offers a more environmentally sustainable footprint because it is non-toxic, non-corrosive and chemical resistant, thereby offering a long lifespan.
HDPE pipe is also much easier to handle and install compared with other pipe materials, allowing for significant cost advantages. Because HDPE is about one-eighth the density of steel, it does not require the use of heavy lifting equipment during installation. “Its flexibility also allows for bending without the need for additional fittings and can be installed over uneven terrain easily in continuous lengths,” concludes Chamont.
